Sunday April 6 saw me heading north to Grantown on Spey in Scotland, finally to get my SML training done with Pete Hill MIC. Staying in a cracking B&B, over the next 4 days with beautiful sunshine and blue sky's we spent it going through all of the syllabus. Navigation, security on step ground, all aspects of rope work from confidence roping to anchor building & abseiling
Not forgetting river crossings which in early April is hard to forget due to the temperature of the water. Day 5 and 6 where spent out near Bynack More, after lots of navigation, timing & pacing a wild camp was due. Tents up, food eaten a 4 hour rest was granted before heading out into the dark for 3 hours of night navigation.
Once into the comforts of our sleeping bags and tents at 1.30 in the morning sleep drifted over us. To wake at 5.30 am to 2" of fresh snow and gales, winter just had to have the last say on the final day. For me it was the icing on the cake.
