The weekend was spent down in the south west, to be precise Bosigran in Cornwall. A rope access course for the students of the Marine & Natural History Photographic Phd Course at Falmouth University.
Set up by my good friend Chris Pretty, for Adrian Brown who is the lecturer and a professional photographer. This weekend was about getting the students into those hard to reach places to get that one great shot, being confident to abseil of the cliff tops and then being able to ascend the ropes back to safety.
3 abseil lines of the stunning sea cliffs of Bosigran, the waves crashing 200ft below, sun shining the students took it in turns to abseil off, with other members protecting them on safety lines they slowly, but surely went over the edge! On top of this they had to think about protecting their very expensive cameras.
We were blessed for both days, Saturday’s 9 students had beautiful sunshine all day, while Sundays 9 had a little wind and cloud but hay this was December and we were happy.
An absolutely cracking weekend, a great bunch of people to work with on both days, all took on board the instructions and advice with true professionalism which was to be expected from a group of Phd Students. And as this was the first of its kind for the University, Adrian was a very happy man, needless to say so was myself and Chris.
